EATING DISORDERS (Anorexia-Nervosa, Bulimia-Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, EDNOS)

Are you suffering from a long-standing eating disorder?  Perhaps you've been in higher levels of treatment and are now in the path of recovery looking for an outpatient dietitian to continue your work with?

Your outpatient eating disorder nutrition counseling will involve:

  • Assessment of your current nutrition adequacy and continued monitoring/evaluation to meet nutrition goals unique for your body
  • Reframing of irrational nutrition/food/body/weight beliefs to overcome fear and/or guilt in eating
  • Building skills to minimize ED behaviors (restriction, binging, purging, excessive exercising, etc.)
  • Coordination of care with your treatment team (such as eating disorder treatment centers, therapists, primary care doctor, etc.) or helping you form a treatment team to support your goals
  • Consultation for the right level of care and treatment program needed at your current stage

DISORDERED EATING / EMOTIONAL EATING / OVEREATING

There is evidence that 95% of restriction diets fail and the weight comes back within 5 years.(check-out more resources here.)  A wealth of scientific evidence explains to us why and how diets result in weight-cycling (aka "yo-yo effect") that can actually increase risk for further weight gain and even chronic diseases, but diet programs won't tell you that because the American diet industry is a massive 61 billion dollar industry that thrives on failed diets and returning customers. 

Focusing on the "number" is not the answer.  Fighting against your body is not the answer.
